What do I do about an NDIS invoice that looks wrong?

Don't approve it yet. Ask your plan manager to hold payment while it is checked against your plan and the provider's details. Common problems are a price outside the usual range, a duplicate, the wrong support item, or details that do not match. A good plan manager investigates with the provider and keeps you informed before anything is paid.

What it depends on: what specifically looks off — the amount, the dates, the provider, or the support item — and whether it has already been submitted for payment.

What stays human: you decide whether to approve, query or reject. MyMoney can flag the invoice and gather the facts, but the judgement and the conversation with the provider stay with people.

Trust the doubt

If something about an invoice feels off, that instinct is worth acting on. It costs nothing to hold an invoice and ask a question; paying a wrong one can be far harder to unwind.

What MyMoney looks for

Our Payment Integrity checks flag the common warning signs so you are not relying on spotting them yourself:

  • A price that sits outside the usual range for that support.
  • A possible duplicate of an invoice already submitted.
  • A support item or dates that do not match the service.
  • Provider or payment details that differ from what is on record.

The steps to take

If an invoice looks wrong:

  • Hold it — do not approve payment yet.
  • Ask your plan manager to query it with the provider.
  • Keep a note of what looked wrong and any reply.
  • If you suspect fraud, raise it — the NDIS Commission takes provider conduct seriously.
