How do I switch plan managers mid-plan?

You can change plan managers at any time during your plan — you do not have to wait for a review. In practice it means ending your current service agreement and starting one with the new plan manager, who then begins managing your plan-managed budgets. There is usually no cost to you, because plan management is funded by the NDIS.

What it depends on: the notice period in your current service agreement, how quickly invoices in progress are settled, and the dates of your current plan.

What stays human: switching is your choice. MyMoney can walk you through it step by step, but you sign the new agreement and you decide when to move. We do not speak for the NDIA on your plan dates.

The short version

Plan management is a support in your plan, and you are free to choose — and change — who provides it. You do not need the NDIA to approve a switch, and you do not have to wait until a plan review.

The steps

Most switches follow the same path:

  • Check your current service agreement for any notice period.
  • Let your current plan manager know you are moving, and ask them to settle invoices already in progress.
  • Start a service agreement with your new plan manager and confirm your plan details.
  • Your new plan manager begins claiming from your plan-managed budgets for new invoices.

What to look for in a new plan manager

Ask the questions that reveal how much control and visibility you will have: Do I approve invoices before they are paid? How fast are providers paid? Can I see my budget clearly? Who checks that invoices are correct?
