Choosing well

What good plan management actually looks like.

Choosing a plan manager is a big decision, and the marketing all sounds the same. So here is a neutral checklist — written to help you decide well, whoever you choose. Use it on us. Use it on anyone.

The standard: seven things good looks like

1

Pays your providers on time — and tells you when it can’t

Good plan management pays valid invoices promptly and keeps providers informed. Just as important: if something is held up, you hear about it early, in plain language.

2

Checks invoices before paying, not after

The money leaves once. A good plan manager checks the price against NDIS limits, confirms the provider, and looks for duplicates or unusual bank changes before paying — while there is still something to protect.

3

Gives you a live, honest view of your budget

You should be able to see what is left across your support categories at any time — and understand any forecast as an estimate to help you plan, not as the official NDIA balance or a guarantee.

4

Protects your choice of provider

Plan management should widen your options, not narrow them. You keep the right to use registered or unregistered providers, and you never feel pushed toward anyone in particular.

5

Puts a real person within reach

When something matters, you should be able to speak to someone who knows your plan — not a script, and not only a chatbot. Technology should help the humans, not hide them.

6

Is honest about what it cannot do

No plan manager catches everything. A good one tells you where its checks are strong, where they rely on your knowledge, and where a human has to make the call.

7

Keeps your information safe and on your side

Your data should be used to run and protect your plan, held under Australian privacy law, never sold, and removable on request within the records the law requires.

Questions to ask any plan manager

Print these. Ask them out loud. The answers — and how honestly they are given — will tell you more than any brochure.

We wrote this to be used on us too.

We think a plan manager should be judged by this standard — including us. If you want to see exactly how we meet it, we have shown our work: the safeguards, the honest limits, and a check followed step by step.

Neutral checklist Works on any plan manager

Ready when you are.

No pressure. Take the checklist, ask around, and come back if we are the right fit. Plan management is free to you either way.
