Understanding the Timeline for NDIS Invoice Payments
Understanding the Timeline for Invoice Payments
When your client is plan managed, you submit your invoice to your plan manager (MyMoney) rather than claiming from the NDIA yourself. Understanding the timeline can help you plan your services and manage cash flow effectively.
Standard Processing Times
Most correctly submitted invoices are processed within a few business days. Timing can vary depending on the completeness of your invoice, whether the participant needs to confirm the service, whether additional information is required, and the volume of invoices being processed.
Steps in the Payment Process
- Invoice submission: You send your invoice to your plan manager (MyMoney) by email or through your provider portal.
- Review and validation: MyMoney checks the invoice against the participant's plan — support item numbers, prices, service dates and available funds.
- Payment, then claim: Once approved, MyMoney pays you into your nominated account (usually within a few business days) and claims the amount back from the NDIA on the participant's behalf.
Factors That May Affect Payment Times
- Completeness of the invoice: invoices missing information may take longer to process.
- Participant approval: many invoices need the participant to confirm the service was delivered before payment — the most common cause of a delay.
- Correct billing: using the correct support item numbers and staying within the price limits helps avoid delays.
What You Can Do to Help Speed Up Payment
- Double-check your invoices for accuracy before submitting.
- Include all the required details — your ABN, the participant's name and NDIS number, the service date(s) and the support item number.
- Use the correct support item number from the current NDIS support catalogue, and keep to the NDIS Pricing Arrangements and Price Limits.
Understanding this process helps you stay informed and prepared, ensuring your services continue smoothly without unnecessary delays.
